of the December 7th, 2005 OHG Business Meeting
Respectfully submitted by Secretary, Bonnie Howard.
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 by President Charity Gramm.
Secretary's Report -- The minutes of the November meeting were read by
Bonnie Howard.
Treasurer's Report -- The Treasurer, Alicia Beard, reported that there
is $6320.07 in the treasury with monthly expenses of $506.02 and deposits
of $227.50. The membership list was made available for changes to be made.
Editor's Report -- No report.
Educational Outreach Report -- No report.
MSS Report -- Jon Beard reported that the MSS meeting will be held on
the third Saturday of January (the 21st) in Rolla at 1 pm. Everyone is
welcome to attend the meeting. Jon also mentioned that the 50th anniversary
of the MSS will be held in June at Meramec State Park in Sullivan, Missouri.
Camping will be reserved and there will be lots of presentations and much
celebrating.
Library Report -- No report.
Website Report -- Michael Carter says that the website has been updated
and new photographs have been added that look cleaner and crisper. The
OHG members manual and a current copy of Under the Highlands should be
going back up in the next few days.
Garrison Report -- No report.
CCC Report -- No report.
Old
Business
Bob Stratford asked about what has become of the money that OHG committed
to be sent to help gate Alexander Cave in Arkansas. All that is needed
is an address for Tom Lansbury. Bob will let Alicia know where to send
the funds.
A motion was made for the OHG Treasury to pay for the upcoming OHG Chrismas
party. It was seconded by Charlie Rey. The motion passed 24-3. A collection
will be taken at the party to help defer the costs for the treasury.
New Business
The chairman of the Nominating Committee, Jack Rosenkoetter, reported
that there were seven nominees for officers for the 2006 Executive Committee.
He made a motion that nominations be closed and Bill Heim seconded it.
The motion was passed.
The Nominees for President (Charity Gramm and Eddie Simmons) and Vice-President
(Jeremy Bounds and Bob Stratford) each gave a speech.
The election began with each person having proxy votes presenting those
and receiving a ballot. Those tallying the votes were were Jack Rosenkoetter
and Bill Copeland, with Bonnie Howard recording the results. While the
votes were being tallied, Charity Gramm and Michael Carter gave a slide
program focusing on the accomplishments of the grotto over the last year.
The
results of the election were: President - Charity Gramm, Vice-President
- Jeremy Bounds, Secretary - Bonnie Howard, Treasurer - Roy Gold, and
MSS Director - Jon Beard.
Charity Gramm then presented some awards for the 2005 caving year. The
Caver of the Year award went to Roy Gold. The President’s award
went to Jon and Alicia Beard. Bob Taylor was given a Lifetime Achievement
award for his 30 years of service with Ozark Highlands Grotto. Charity
Gramm was also presented with an award for her Cave Preservation and Education
efforts. Congratulations to all the recipients!
Announcements
On
Saturday, December 10, there will be a grotto trip to Honey Branch Cave.
The OHG Christmas Party will be Sunday, December 18th at Century Lanes
in Nixa.
The January grotto trip will be going to Skaggs Cave on Saturday, January
7th. For more information contact Eddie Simmons or Jamie Euliss.
The
meeting was adjourned at 8:27 pm. Afterwards, the meeting after the meeting
was held at Cielito Lindo's.
